Afro-Chaises
The « Afro-Chairs » series consists of six chairs inspired by various African tribes.
Despite their differences, each speaks the same conceptual language and « lives » around one dining table while retaining their individuality, expressing a message of peaceful coexistence.
Around a table, this work gets all its sense.
Each chair has so much character that you will feel like you have permanent guests in your house. Each exhibits a symbolic detail which captures the essence of its identity and distinguishes it from the others.
This « Hagen » chair is inspired from an ornament worn during ceremony of the annual gathering of the tribes at Mount Hagen.
This chair is inspired by a hairstyle worn by the women of the Himba tribe.
This ornament, sculptured in wood, represents the bone in the nose of the men of the of Kombaïs tribe.
This tribe, known for the height of their jumps and the lengthened silhouette of its people, is represented by the three anklets placed on one of the chair’s legs.
This chair represents the Mursi tribe, where women are known for inserting a tray in their lower lip.
